Psychedelic Deluxe in SWITZERLAND
Once again, Switzerland has become a theater of a healthy, dynamic and electic trance-culture reaching every corner of the country. The scene grows, but due to the size of the country it´s still just like a big conversant family coming together everywhere where the psychedelic spirit flourishs.
And one thing is sure: The will of the swiss psy community to party will not be narrowed by adverce circumstances like bad weather (of that we had enough last year), even if the dancefloor looks more like a sludge floor.
The ZOOM festival ceased in a flood, but this didn´t hinder people to keep dancing till the last minute. Some freaks are even crazy enough to take part in an outdoor party on 3,000m altitude at -25degrees at the Mountain Space Camp.
Unfortunately, trouble with police controls and public authorities blured the party amusement more than the years before, under which especially outdoor parties had to suffer. You’ve got to fight for your right to party! J
Nevertheless, new and old tribes undertook great efforts to organize nice large and small events.
Organisations like Synthetic Vibes (Elmazing Night, Atmosphere Festival), Happy People Productions (ZOOM), Kokopelli (Biocosma) and Nandan (Maharaya) made great outdoor festivals possible, mainly to be found in the alps and became even more international, unifying Trancers from all over the world in the scenery of the Swiss mountains, loaded with great decoration of professional teams.
Fortunately, most of them will take place in 2006 again.
Since most of the larger events take place in the german-spoken part of the country, the French part has always been active since 1995 with the Psyberpunk movement. Until the present moment, a lot of medium sized underground parties have attracted many freaks from Europe to experience a unique fusion blend of tribal, punk, and industrial psychedelic trance. Some former members of Psyberpunk, such as Gaspard and Master Margherita, realized their talent and passion for music into a professional label known as Peak records.
There are many party organizations in the French part, such as FrakaSound (Secret Garden & Hidden Cave), Biolive (TimeGate), Feel Free (Color of Life), and Geodesik to name a few.
The Italian scene can be described in one word: Magical. Still quite small in comparison to its neighbors, the psytrance-evolution is in the beginning phase, parties are underground and hidden in nature. Do not underestimate the quality of the events there. Famous places (like the Castle of Messocco) have been witness to one of the greatest party experience in Swiss trance history. Organizations such as Space Connection and the Skitz crew are continuing their efforts in creating a psychedelic scene.
Nearly all swiss parties independent of their size are usually listed at the interzone website, which can be seen as the swiss psytrance partyguide par excellence.
Switzerland is known and loved for its great outdoor parties, but has a vital indoor scene particularly in the winter as well, which spreads more and more the whole country and is not concentrated to the metropolitan area of Zürich anymore.
Whilst some events came up with an international killer line-up, a couple of both well established Swiss artists and newcomers surprised beyond the Swiss borders with new releases, great liveacts, energizing Dj Sets or all at once J. A complete list would go beyond of the scope of this article, names that come in mind are Liquid Soul, Freakulizer, Goe, Goma, Müstik and Jackomo.
Swiss labels represent a large spectrum of psytrance music, ranging from downbeat (Monolog Recordings) to groovy progressive (Interzone Records) and Dark Psy (Peak Records). The party organisation Nandan founded their own Full-On label last year.
It seems that we can expect amazing releases originating from Siwtzerland for 2006.
And amazing parties in any event –;)
Be part of it and let yourself bewitched from the fusion of wonderful landscape, nice deco, freaky special people and lovely psychedelic music – in Switzerland.
