Poland
Psychedelic Trance appeared in Poland in the mid 90s. Despite its long presence on the market and the interest that accompanied it in the beginning, this phenomenon is considered an underground one, but posessing a fundamental position in electronic music.
Poland's climate is the reason why psytrance fans party not only during the short summer, but for the most part in clubs. Because of this we are sometimes a part of clubbing, although organizers do their best to prevent it. Hence events are devoid of random unwanted guests and acquire the atmosphere of a friendly gathering. We can't forget to mention the mentality of the fans as well as all the creators of this current in Poland. A large part of them are people who don't necessarily follow all the newest trends. They are fascinated by the specific setting and spirit which they try to retain by their actions till this very day. As for the music that is played, the best events always have an additional stage, an alternative to the one presenting the newest and most popular psytrance productions. This stage features collages of intelligent progressive sounds, classical goa and other vibes, sometimes mixed with instrumental music (drums, didgeridoo, etc.) The largest events are organized by such groups as Toga Dansverg and Hallabanaha. Thanks to their long-term and intense involvement, Gdansk and Warsaw have become the leading psytrance centres in Poland. GGOG club is worth a visit ever last Saturday of the month, as are the less regularly held Acid Tests in Warsaw. Trance events are also held in Krakow, Katowice, Wroclaw, Poznan and Mielec in the south-east of Poland.
If you plan to visit our country during the summer you cannot miss the Moondalla open-air taking place near Gdansk by the Baltic Sea. It's an annual meeting held by our entire psychedelic family. It's the place you'll meet every one of our artists, djs, decoration crew and friends you met half a year earlier in a different city. This festival and its after-parties show the precise state of our psytrace scene.
In case you have any questions feel free to visit the International Discussions section of the www.psytrance.pl forum. None of your posts will be ignored! You should also know that you can come to Poland by one of many low-fare airlines. Taking into account our relatively cheap prices when comapred with countries of western Europe, a weekend/holiday in Poland may prove to be an inexpensive and interesting experience.
A longer article containing a detailed description of our scene, the possibilities of traveling in Poland and dates of events etc. can be found at www.chaishop.com.
