Bandits and Fairies in MEXICO

As one of the most recognized underground musical sources, like funky rock & alternative elektro-freshpunk, trance stills spreading around the whole mexican territory. We cannot get into the public FM radio yet as the others, but psytrance is getting hundreds of young followers and many more parties are appearing. Since 2006 year begun, the ritual fun don’t stop in aztec dancefloors from coast to coast and it seems it will not finish soon. So if you really like the party just come here, meet mexican people and you will say: ‘de aquí soy!’

Today, Mexico stands as a consolidatd psytrance scene power nation. Tough the lack of important labels as in Europe or Japan or the huge israeli trance stars, mexican parties are famous world wide (dont´t they). Well, for sure you will find really massive parties going around.

When you come to Mexico, there is only one first thinking in your mind: go party! That´s a good beginning. Unfortunately, we are in the part of the story where some evils want their bags full of power & money and let the fairies fall into an insane sickness. Excess is now the meaning of massivity and fields full of trash are now a familiar image in some of our biggest parties (about 7000 ppl). So is better to contact the right people to show you when and which party go ‘cause not all big ones are so nice. Anyway, in Mexico, you always will have a good time with freaky people, not only in parties.

Instead of that you have many other options. The coolest parties are now the medium sized, with a short line-up but featured with good bands (international most of them). A better atmosphere with less danger of stealing, police roundups and frauds. No matter if they are in clubs, houses or outdoors, this are the best way for really enjoy a good dancing time & the oportunity to pay attention to the mexican sound. Also, our well known bands are playing constantly in the whole country in addition to their occuped but proudly international itinerary. From Maia Recs, Ecliptic will be in the german Full Moon Fest this year & D-tek stills releasing tracks around the globe. Tron have just released his first album in Liquid Recs. and Xibalba is preparing its first official album. Melovskys released its album too no much time ago. All of them are gaining more levels in the global ring and there is a few nice projects preparing good things to show the world that the mexican sound is growing in the right way.

Shove, Forza, Messie, Kechu, Vegan, Arturo, Vazik, Nino & Dende are still some of the most known djs moving, just to name a few ‘cause there are many more sprout everywhere and depending on the region that you visit, are very good figures. Into the designers and visual talents we must mention the work of Deliria (deco), Golem, Chakra Corona, Sincromaya and some chikie vjanes like Lulla-Tui in Guadalajara. We have very professional talents in all this aspects.

Try to visit as many places as you can and if you are at city, take your jacket and go out to find some stuff at nice places like Maia Music Shop, Coyoacan and La Condesa in Mexico City or go to spend some time in “Tianguis Cultural” (it´s an open air market for trade of all sort of stuff) and visit Bee & Nafta shops in Guadalajara. For sure you will find cool stuff and weird things if you ask to a friend. Mexicans dudes are specialists for that, hehe.

The other most important thing that you must keep in mind appart of party, is to visit the natural landscapes that Mexico have. Playa del Carmen, Pto. Vallarta, Oaxaca & Baja California coasts are some beaches that you can’t miss. And Palenque, Teotihuacan, Tulum and Monte Alban are some magical places that will possess your mind.

Finaly I have to mention that this year we have elections here in Mexico. We are going to change our president and it seems to be interesting for many social aspects and reasons that i don’t want to talk about here. Just don’t be surprice if you see tons of politic propaganda everywhere. It’s a common situation here that just get more troubles to our trippin’ lifes. So dont worry about that, it can’t stop our good vibes and fun needs. Come and get some of the warm sound and the special frequency waves from the friendly (& sometimes crazy) mexicans’s heart.

Guadalajara still Moving

With an important presence in Mexico’s scene, the city of Guadalajara (located in the west of Mexico) it’s an important place for Trance because it has many followers and it’s a key meeting point for trancers coming from other states of the country.

It’s important to talk about how the scene originated in this city. The first Trance parties took place in the year 2000, Mandala was the only promoter at the time, bringing acts like Alien Project and Total Eclipse, and since the beginning Trance was welcomed. In 2002 the scene had a bad time, police raids where common and some people got even sent to jail. It’s been four years now and the scene is strong: now we have gatherings of 1,500 to 5,000 people and no problems with police. The scene in this city is very young most of its followers are teens and they are eager to hear new Psychedelic Trance sounds.

Because of a generous weather, there practically are parties all year long. Most of the gatherings take place in the woods in a place called La Primavera. You can get there by car, a cab, you can ask for a ride on the way to the party and then walk, but this last isn’t the best option. Equinoxio de Primavera is the most important party in this city and it takes place in March.

Guadalajara’s most important event producer is Massive Trance, which has managed to bring some of the big names: artists like GMS, Astrix, Infected Mushroom come often.

Guadalajara doesn’t have many people producing music, but Paranoia and Kinatzin are some of the best know acts. Nazareth, Vegan, Nino and Kechu are some of the key DJs there, the last two have signed with international labels like Spun and Compact Records. Visual artists are also an important part of this scene and some of the best artists are Ix Electrico, Bicbang13 and Taber, these artists are present in most of the parties.

Trance events are not the only meeting point in this city, a place called Tianguis Cultural, which is a street market near the city’s downtown is a place to buy music, clothes and exchange information. This street market is only up on Saturdays.

Although Trance is an important part of Guadalajara’s scene other types of music like House and Techno have many followers. Guadalajara is an important place for music in general and the place to be when you come to Mexico.
